Marmot Vacations
by Stormy on July 21, 2007

It's time for a vacation once again and this time I'm heading east to do a little caving see the sites.

It was an early start this morning for an 800+ mile trip. Most of the day was spent driving, but a little time was allocated to doing fun stuff so that everyone could take a break. Star Marmot came along on the trip so that I wouldn't be lonely drifting around in the back of the car. We started out in Denver, Colorado and by the end of the day managed to get to the eastern part of Missouri. Along the way we took the time to hit a few big touristy spots including the Kansas State Capitol, the college town of Columbia, Missouri and Graham Cave. The cave visit was fun, but it was late in the day as the sun was setting. Sadly, the flash did not deliver.

Stormy and Star can not get the bushes to cooperate for a picture leaving Colorado.

The sign entering Kansas did not have any picture taking obstacles!

At 9:30 AM MDT the marmots crossed a mythical line that made the time 10:30 AM CDT. The marmots don't really understand this mysticism. Nor do they get the concept of time.

When the marmots saw a sign to Enterprise, Kansas, they thought they could meet the Star Trek people. That did not pan out so well.

In Topeka, Kansas the marmots found a police cruiser and took the time to pose on it.

In front of the Kansas State Capitol there was an empty pedestal in search of a statue. You don't have to ask Stormy and Star twice!

The marmots will indeed pose anywhere.

That was a very high climb to get the marmots up on the ledge. Luckily the marmots are not afraid of heights. They are afraid of pigeons.

Another view of Stormy and Star at the Kansas State Capitol.

The "Welcome to Missouri" sign is on a bridge over the Missouri River. No stopping allowed. The marmots did not want to play in the traffic.
