Elephant Rock Cycling Festival
by Stormy on June 01, 2008

It's all about fun and charity. Take a spin around Douglas County and help raise money for a good cause!

Every year the Elephant Rock Cycling Festival attracts thousands of people to Douglas County in central Colorado. Money raised from ride participants goes to charities operating in Douglas County. In 2008 seven thousand people took part in this charity event! Ride options for the festival range from an 8 mile family fun ride to a hard core century that covers hills and rough terrain in the rural mountainous areas of the county. The Douglas County Fairgrounds in Castle Rock are used to stage the event, which has been taking place every year since 1988. Riders return to the fairgrounds for a barbecue picnic and a variety of vendors, demonstrations and exhibits.

A long stream of riders heads down County Line Road, separating Douglas and El Paso Counties.

Local, state and county police support the event by controlling traffic for the ride's participants.
